John Guerry, Ph.D.
John Guerry, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the evidence-based evaluation and treatment of anxiety, OCD, and related conditions. Although he works with individuals of all ages, Dr. Guerry has a particular focus on providing therapy to adolescents and young adults. Learn more about specialty treatment for emerging adults at HARBOR through the Young Adult Anxiety Program here.
Prior to joining HARBOR, Dr. Guerry served as both a psychologist in the Anxiety Behaviors Clinic at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology in Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
Dr. Guerry received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill and his undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University (CT). He completed his clinical internship at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY where he gained intensive training in delivering interventions to support youth with a range of emotional challenges. Building on this expertise, Dr. Guerry completed advanced postdoctoral training at the Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CUCARD) where he served individuals ranging in age from childhood through older adulthood.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Guerry is passionate about finding ways to expand the reach of effective treatments through research, professional service, teaching, and training. For example, he collaborated with colleagues at the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP) and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) to co-author the website, www.effectivechildtherapy.org. This website continues to disseminate information to the public about evidence-based treatment options for child and adolescent mental health problems.
Outside of professional activities, John is grateful (and often humbled) by the life-long learning experience of parenting his own children.
